Alexandra Maria Lara is a Romanian German film and TV actress best known for her performances in movies such as Downfall Youth Without Youth Control and Rush. As the sole child of Romanian actress Valentin Platareanu, Alexandra started her professional career in showbiz as a child. She was a lead actress in television dramas as early at the age of 16. Her critically acclaimed role in the television film Der Tunnel paved way for more notable roles like that of the secretary of Adolf Hitler Traudl Junge, in the commercially and critically profitable Oscar nominated historical war film Downfall. The Reader, Der Baader Meinhof Komplex and The Reader are also Oscar-nominated films featuring the actress. Alexandra's work has led her to participate in several important national and international projects. They include the British biographical film Control Greek drama film The Dust of Time and the French historical miniseries Napoleon and many more. In addition, she was a member of the jury at the Cannes Film Festival and the Transylvania International Film Festival.
